I'm starting this blog for a few reasons. 1) To allow myself a neutral place to vent and search out some peace, humor and enlightenment thru this challenging time of change. 2) . I hope my truth telling of pregnancy from the way I see it might comfort other expectant mothers who may be having the same experience. It's the one time I TOTALLY AGREE that misery loves company lol. At no point do I intend to offend anyone especially those who are trying to get pregnant. I'm BEYOND grateful for this heartfelt journey of creation. This is simply MY honest view on MY pregnancy, not my opinions on pregnancy in general. Everyone's journey, baby, body and faith are unique and sacred in their own right. I look forward to sharing with you all my day to day trip down maternity lane. Grab some ice cream and enjoy!
December 7th @ 3:42 pm - 23 weeks
My mornings begin at 4:43 am EVERY MORNING ON THE DOT. That marks the time I give in to my discomforts, go to the bathroom for the third time and zombie shuffle out into the living room. Prior to this regemin I've spent the last 6 hours in bed struggling to get comfortable. My night in bed begins with heartburn and acid reflux even tho I'm staying away from spicy foods and refrain from eating 3 hours before bedtime. Never felt the devil in my throat till pregnancy. Sometimes I even wake up, choking on the upchuck of acid. Sooooo gross!!!!! I pop some tums and invest the time in oil rubbing. I slather my belly, boobs, thighs and ass in oil, lotion, gels .... Everything I can get my swollen hands on that will keep stretch marks at bay. I throw a nose strip on to breath better - hormones also cause a stuffy nose. Joy. When heartburn finally subsides .... It's time to sleep or at least attempt to. We are told as pregnant sleepers to lay on your left side as it's the best side for blood flow to the fetus. Yah...... That's a problem when you have a bad left hip from years of wear and tear as a professional swing dancer. Lol. How about the right side? Not my norm, but it's more comfy that the left side. Do I stay there long? NOPE! As I FINALLY fall asleep, my body wants to sleep comfortably and rolls to my left. My back is flat and happy and the ole body has never felt more "at home". Ahhhhh ..... Dreamland begins and crazy ass vivid dreams begin to drain my emotions (another side effect of pregger hormones) Just as I begin to witness my lil 7 pound Yorkie shit out a life size, creamsicle flavored, life size T-Rex Dinosaur, I wake up to a numb right arm and left leg. Lovely. The weight of the belly pushes on nerves and other fun bodily parts causing poor circulation to mother and baby. I accidently go thru this issue every night EVEN with a pillow guard under my back. Apparently I'm very stubborn when I sleep lol.
Soooo going back to 4:43 am ..... I open my eyes begin to stretch my legs and "SHIT SHIT SHIT!" My feet FREAK! One toe goes to Cali while the other stays in Florida! Leg and foot cramps SUCK!!! I've even started stretching before bed and when I wake up ..... Doesn't help L. My husband already knows the drill by now. Between the heartburn and leg cramps, when I sit up, he reaches to my back half asleep. He rubs me for comfort and burps me for relief. So attractive eh? Lol Shortly after, I feel some back spasms coming on. I lay back down and turn the heating pad on. Once all warmed up, I do a few prep rolls to the right for some momentum and finally sit up! . I slowly get out of bed with only a slight feel of dizziness and get my waddle on over to the bathroom. Oh what a sight!!!!! As soon as potty time is done my nose & eyes begin their water works performance. Probably one of the worse parts of my 6 months so far. My eyes swell almost to the point where I can hardly see, they burn and itch something aweful. Of course the more I rub, the more they burn. I start my sneeze attacks and wow ...... How exhausting!! It ain't just 5 small ones. More like 20 consecutive big ones that are so harsh, they cause some ligament pain I just peed 5 mins ago but that won't stop some leakage upon the sneezing and nose blowing! Seriously .... So fun!
I look forward to my small morning cup of coffee in the mornings. It's just enough for me to find a moment of peace amongst the internal war of hormones that has hijacked my body. I continue my allergy attacks for a while longer then head back to bed around 7.
I woke up today after my second sleep close to lunch time. Delighted to find PHO chicken soup from the weekend, I let out a yelp of excitement. Ahhhhh ... My second moment of peace for the day. Allergies still have me in a daze. Grateful for this day of rest that the universe so clearly wanted me to have! Tired as hell, but grateful for an empty schedule with just me and my Pho
I love that you are doing this. Relief and the reward will be here before you know it.
ReplyDeleteOh my. That was a great read! Often I feel empty, like I'm missing out by not having children. Then I read this! You know a very small part of me is a bit relieved I must say that I haven't gotten to experience this awesomeness!
ReplyDeleteSomeday Dominik will have a little cousin once I adopt (after my own crazy life has calmed and settled). Although I won't get the chance to experience it for myself, I thoroughly enjoy the fact I can live vicariously through yours! Thanks for sharing sis! :D
I look forward to following along. Currently 18 weeks and it has been an adventure.
